On its own, the administration building at the University of Victoria is impressive. The entrance awning’s largely wooden construction soars at least two stories overhead. Capturing it as a reflection combines it with the equally impressive window.
Many of the buildings on the campus combine concrete and wood. Not only to provide structure, but also as decoration. The way the wood and concrete play off each other. It’s a blending of civilization and nature. It reduces the harshness of seeing buildings in the middle of trees. Rather than jump from green and brown to brick and cinder, your eye goes from natural color to natural color.
