A drummer drums outside the U Street Metro station.

Various musicians share their talents outside the U Street Metro as well as other street corners and venues. On this day, a drummer was going to town on a pad atop the newspaper stand. The focus is on the rhythm, of course. The drumsticks are just the instrument. And everything else is just extra.

At the end of the day, it’s not the concert hall or the street corner that makes the music. It’s the spirit that flows through the player and the instrument out into the crowd. As we go to work or visit friends, we get to participate for a few minutes.
