Purple flowers spill over a white wall in Victoria, BC.

Walking around Victoria, BC, you’d think you were in an English town. Except perhaps with a bit too much sun. But there are neat gardens and well-manicured lawns. Small walls. Purple flowers flowing down. Managed chaos. Even double decker buses.

But you don’t have to go far to be out of the city and in the middle of wilderness. Then it’s obvious that this isn’t England. Of course, it’s obvious prior to that with everyone driving on the right side and the lack of the British Pound. But it’s still probably the closest you will be to an English experience without going to England.
