The National Arboretum is a store house of treasures. Many know about the capitol columns. They stand proud on the edge of a large field surrounded by trees. But behind the columns with which everyone is familiar is a pool, fountain, and stone channel connecting the two. The channel points to the head of one of the columns that rests across the field.
It might not be obvious, but the column capitol across the field is from the same columns. All of them once stood on the east portico of the US Capitol. Now, they stand in a similar arrangement in the Arboretum.
