A stylized version of a tree trunk against a yellow wall with shadows.

Walking around a Caribbean island means lots of sun and shadows. Pair that with bright, colorful walls, and you have a recipe for contrasts between light and shade. When the sun is shining through leaves, shadows play across the wall. You can feel it on your skin.

Not only is there contrast in the light, but in texture, too. In this case, natural and man-made textures. The roughness of the tree trunk against the smoothness of the plastered wall. In the middle of a city, where everything has been touched by progress, you can still find simple things like a tree and a wall. No matter what we do, nature hangs on.
