The Washington Metro is a mix of architectural styles. The kind seen here in the U Street Metro is probably most recognizable. Especially by anyone who has seen metro stations in movies or television shows. It’s mesmerizing lines radiate from the escalators on the other end of the platform.
The spare, modern architecture lends itself to a wide range of interpretations. In this case, we’re looking down the long axis of the station. But with the escalators and platforms and floors, there are other points where the barrel sprawls out from overhead, curling around to envelope the tracks.
