A lone passenger waiting on the train on a cold winter morning.

Public transportation is great, but it does mean that you end up waiting. It might be on a street corner for a bus, or on a platform for a train. It could be in a nice, cosy airport. But in the end, you wait. If you’re there during a busy time, you might find the crowd frustrating. People in your way. No seats or room to put your stuff. No privacy for your phone time. Or you might be all alone, like the man in this photograph.

In this case, the man has his back to almost the entire platform. He’s waiting for the train that will come in on his side. So the rest of the space doesn’t matter. He might not even be aware of the emptiness if he’s focused on the tracks.
